IBAT is excited to announce having secured the funding for the Cyber Security for Managers programme. Following a competitive tender coordinated by the Higher Education Authority in Ireland on behalf of the Government of Ireland, the funding is in recognition of the qualification being determined, by an expert panel, as a programme in an area where there are employment opportunities in the economy. Under the 2021 call for the Springboard+ upskilling initiative in higher education, 294 courses were approved for funding across 34 providers. Why should students choose this course? The Springboard+ Certificate in Cyber-Security for Managers programme allows students to develop specialised cyber-security skills and techniques, recognise and adapt to ever-changing threats, develop integrated cyber-security plans, display leadership abilities in working with others and learn to develop a personal development plan. Cyber security is a field that is increasingly growing because of increased digitisation during the pandemic. This means there are a huge number of opportunities for graduates of this programme, across a range of aspects of cybersecurity. “We are delighted to be chosen to run the Cyber Security for Managers Course,” says Joe Gorey, Principle at IBAT College Dublin. “Cyber security is very much a hot topic as can be seen in the amount of media coverage around the world and is vital in ensuring the smooth running of everything from a range of industries, through defence, to banking and online shopping.” Who can enrol on the course? To qualify for a free Springboard+ course, potential students must be unemployed, actively seeking work and available to take up work. For those already employed, course fees are available up to 90% for levels 7, 8 and 9 on the NFQ. “We will have around 35 places available on the Cyber Security for Managers Course,” says Joe Gorey. “A Diploma Course for 24 weeks, it will furnish managers across multiple disciplines with the awareness and level of expertise to help identify attacks and deal with them.” IBAT College currently has two complementary cyber courses, the 12-week online Diploma in Cyber and Digital Security, and the 10 month Online Cyber Professional Course. The first intake of students receiving the funding will be in September 2021 and on a first come first served basis. Click here to learn more about the programme.
